'Sesame Street' Mainstay Coming To Rider University
Dr. Loretta Long, who plays Susan on "Sesame Street," will share her journey and experiences at Rider Oct. 30.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — Susan is making the trip from Sesame Street to Lawrenceville, NJ. Dr. Loretta Long, who plays Susan on “Sesame Street,” will share her journey and experiences as one of the original characters on the iconic children's TV show during an event at Rider University, the college announced.
“Breaking Barriers: Pioneering Voices in Educational Television with Dr. Loretta Long, Susan from Sesame Street” will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bart Luedeke Center's Cavalla Room.
Long will give away copies of the book, "My Best Friends Call Me Susan," at the event. Long wrote the book in collaboration with Scott Alboum, Rider's video technologies coordinator.
The event will include two break out sessions from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.: "Niches and Leadership in Media for Minorities" and "Bridging the Gap: Succeeding as a First-Generation College Student."

“Breaking Barriers" is part of the Tapestry initiative from Rider's Department of Communication and Journalism, which aims to engage students in media learning activities including filmmaking, journalistic reporting and community educational presentations to illuminate the perspectives and voices of underrepresented groups within society.
