Slackwood School Celebrates Pi Day
Second-grader Saketh Bireddy was able to recite the mathematical constant Pi - the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter - to 27 decimal places.

The number π (/paɪ/) is a mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, and is approximately equal to 3.14159...
So on March 14 (3.14), Mr. George Regan, the academic support math teacher at Slackwood Elementary School, planned activities throughout the day for students to focus on Pi and other math skills.

Students participated in a Pi assembly and then completed various projects related to Pi. The activities culminated with a contest amongst students to see who could give the number Pi to the most places (Pi is an infinite number).
Saketh Bireddy, a second-grade student in Mrs. Sharon Civil's class, was able to repeat Pi to 27 decimal places.

As the winner, Saketh had the opportunity to hit Mr. Regan with a Pi(e) in front of the school and all of the students.
