Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and families in Mercer County and the surrounding area are invited to share their love with others, including animals in the region.

The Tulpehaking Nature Center will celebrate families and wildlife at its “Valentines for Nature” event throughout the month of February. The nature center is open Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays, noon to 4 p.m.

Parents and children can get a head start on their valentine-making and enjoy a variety of activities. Everyone in the family is invited, including favorite stuffed animals. Families can create a nature-themed valentine for that special someone, as well as an edible “valentine for nature” for our furred and feathered friends.

Visitors will also have the chance to meet “Turbo,” the nature center’s new box turtle, and feed the baby crayfish. Families can become inspired to create something new using repurposed materials at the nature center’s Creation Station, or let their imagination run wild in the Children’s Corner and Puppet Theater with a favorite stuffed animal.

The Tulpehaking Nature Center is located at 157 Westcott Avenue in Hamilton. Off-street parking is available in front of the Watson House with easy access to the nature center's main entrance on the side of the building opposite the gazebo.
