Bill To Fund Monmouth Park Purses Moves Through NJ Assembly
If the New Jersey bill passes, Monmouth Park would receive $10 million per year for overnight purses.

A supplement bill that would give Monmouth Park an annual $10 million subsidy made it one step closer to Governor Phil Murphy's desk. The New Jersey Assembly Appropriations Committee voted unanimously Monday for the bill to see the assembly floor.
If passed, the bill would provide $20 million annually over five years for purse supplements around the state, including $10 million per year for Monmouth Park. The bill also mandates a written agreement between each racetrack and its representative horsemen's group on revenue sharing from sports betting, according to the Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association.
The legislation passed the Senate by a 40-0 vote Dec. 17. The Assembly Appropriations Committee voted 9-0 for the bill to reach the assembly floor. The Assembly next meets Thursday.

Because of the budgetary process, the supplements will be reviewed each year, said Democratic Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin.
