Can We Trust our Voting Machines?

Red Bank: With the very important 2020 Presidential election just one year away, states all over the country are asking this important question: Can we trust our voting machines against hacking and outside interference?

The League of Women Voters of the Greater Red Bank Area (LWVGRBA) in conjunction with the Southern Monmouth County and Western Monmouth Leagues of Women Voters presents a timely discussion on this very important topic on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at 3 to 4:30. The presentation will take place at the Shrewsbury Historical Society Building at 419 Sycamore Avenue in Shrewsbury, NJ. Speakers will be Dr. Andrew Appel, Ph.D in computer science from Princeton University and a noted authority on voting machine accuracy. He will be joined by David Harris, a member of SOMA Action, a group from South Orange and Maplewood committed to social and environmental justice and a transparent and accountable government.

Barbara Chaudhery, President of the LWVGRBA states, “Our voting machines leave no paper trail and are old and increasingly difficult to maintain. We hope our citizens will join us to hear what two experts say about the vulnerability of our current systems and options going forward.”
