Coronavirus: Oceanport Schools Close 2 Days For Deep Cleaning

Oceanport schools will be closed Thursday and Friday as cases of the virus appear in Monmouth County.

OCEANPORT, NJ — Oceanport schools will close Thursday and Friday for deep cleaning as a precaution for the novel coronavirus. Several Monmouth County residents have tested presumptive positive for the virus, including a Red Bank Regional High School student.

Oceanport will undergo deep and systematic cleans in both its school buildings. The district will use two emergency snow days for the closure.

Governor Phil Murphy announced two new cases in Monmouth County on Wednesday.

Two other Monmouth County residents were identified Monday as presumptive positive cases of coronavirus: an 83-year-old Hazlet woman being treated at Hackensack Meridian Health Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, and a 27-year-old Little Silver man who was treated at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, but has since been discharged and is in isolation at home.
