Deer Slammed Into Runner During Race At Sandy Hook
The deer reportedly came out of nowhere and slammed the woman to the ground.

A deer reportedly slammed into a runner during a Jersey Shore race this past weekend.
Christina Sanchez, 40, said she slammed into the the pavement during Sunday's Jersey Shore Half Marathon at Sandy Hook after she was struck by a deer. She told The Asbury Park Press she was hit by a buck with antlers.
Sanchez spoke about it on the Jersey Shore Running Club public Facebook page, thanking her fellow runners for coming to her aid.

"I want to thank my fellow runners that stopped to check on me and help me out," she said. "And to the woman that ran next to me when I started up again. Thanks. I would say I won that battle."
Sanchez, a Fair Haven resident, told The Asbury Park Press that the deer came out nowhere, and hit her head-on. She screamed as she was knocked to the ground, and then the buck jumped into her and used her leg as a launch pad to make his getaway toward an area of brush and trees near Gunnison Beach.

“I have never heard of that happening," said Daphne Yun, spokesperson for the National Park Service and Sandy Hook, who confirmed to the publication that park rangers responded to the incident Sunday.
