Don't Want A Ticket? Don't Speed In Little Silver
Police more likely to issue tickets for speeding and cell phone use, rather than warnings, mayor says

LITTLE SILVER, NJ - Sometimes the nice guy routine just doesn't work, Mayor Robert C. Neff Jr. says.
Little Silver police have historically just given warnings to first-time minor traffic offenders. But that is about to change.
"Little Silver has never asked its police departments to issue tickets just to bring in revenue," the mayor said in a post on the borough website. "But frustration sets in when some decide to ignore the law and public safety, and continue to speed, or continue to fail to stop for pedestrians in cross walks, or continue to text or talk on phones, despite our officers’ warnings and the public improvements."

Little Silver has seven county roads, three public schools, a nursery school, a busy downtown and a train station, all of which add up to more traffic. The borough has made a number of traffic improvements recently, including installing new pedestrian crossing and stop signs, lighted pedestrian crossing signs in certain locations and repainting pedestrian walkways, Neff said.
But the traffic violations continue. So don't say you haven't been warned.
Little Silver police will be far more likely to write tickets, especially for speeding or cell phone violations, especially near schools, the train station and frequent pedestrian routes from now on, Neff said.

"So please take heed: the warnings that used to be given out are about to morph into tickets," the mayor said.
