How Many Have Been Vaccinated In Little Silver, Oceanport So Far?

LITTLE SILVER, NJ — As of Monday, May 10, 48 percent of Little Silver residents have been vaccinated.

This is according to brand-new data released by the state Department of Health. The state's COVID-19 dashboard now reveals the percentage of all people, adults and seniors who have been partially or fully vaccinated in each city and town in New Jersey.

Among Little Silver residents 65 and older, that number climbs to 74 percent vaccinated. 62 percent of Little Silver residents between 18 and 65 have been vaccinated.

In Oceanport, 42 percent of the total town got the shot; 52 percent of those 18-65 and 70 percent of those 65-plus.

In related news, starting Tuesday, Brookdale Community College is now taking walk-ins for the vaccine, with no appointment necessary. The Brookdale vaccination site is open to walk-ins Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. The County-operated sites administer the Moderna vaccine, which is not approved for anyone under the age of 18. The vaccines are given out in the Collins area. How does the rest of New Jersey look?

38 percent of Middletown Twp. has been vaccinated against coronavirus; 47 percent of those 18-65; and 75 percent of people 65 and older in Middletown got the shot. 33 percent of all Toms River residents have been vaccinated, and 71 percent over 65. Holmdel about matches with Middletown: 44 percent of all residents have been vaccinated, and 76 percent of those 65 and up have been vaccinated.

Some towns have higher vaccine compliance, especially among their 65+ residents: 86 percent of Princeton residents 65+ have been vaccinated. In West Windsor, it's 89 percent. In Avalon, which doesn't have a large youth population, 90 percent of all town residents have been vaccinated.

Some NJ towns have very low vaccination rates: In Lakewood Twp., only 14 percent of the total population got the shot, but 65 percent of those over 65 chose to get it. In Lakehurst borough, total town compliance is at 17 percent. In South Toms River borough, compliance is at 19 percent. The city of Perth Amboy is at 16 percent compliance as a whole. Trenton is at 17 percent vaccinated; Camden at 18 percent.

New Jersey set a goal to fully vaccinate 70 percent of adults — 4.7 million people — by the end of June. About 3.6 million people in New Jersey have been fully vaccinated as of Monday afternoon.
