Little Silver PD Breaks Up Lacrosse Games Amid Coronavirus Spread
The Borough will consider closing parks and fields if people continue to violate social-distancing rules.
LITTLE SILVER, NJ — Not everyone has been practicing social distancing in Little Silver, according to police. The Little Silver Police Department has broken up several lacrosse games and similar group gatherings, the agency said Thursday.
Twelve people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Little Silver as of Thursday morning, as well as four in Oceanport.
The state order prohibits these games and gatherings. If they continue, the Borough will consider closing its parks and fields.

"Please contribute to the solution, and not the problem: stay home, go out only where necessary, and when outside practice social distancing," Little Silver police said. "Help us to keep you safe, and let's flatten the curve."

People with the coronavirus also might not show symptoms, according to the Center for Disease Control. With limited testing available nationwide, it is also difficult to gauge the true number of people with the virus.
Governor Phil Murphy announced 18 more deaths from the coronavirus Wednesday, raising the state total to 62. Murphy also announced on Wednesday that the state has 736 more positive tests, raising the state total to 4,402.

Law enforcement throughout the state has broken up social gatherings that have become illegal. The New Jersey Office of Attorney General has charged people at three gatherings that ignored social-distancing rules — two in Lakewood and one in Salem County.
