Little Silver's Zack McDermott Named All-Shore Track Athlete of Year

His track coach at Christian Brothers Academy calls him one of the best athletes the school has ever had but Little Silver's Zack McDermott tells the Asbury Park Press that he considered the sport a hobby until his junior year.

But through focus and training, McDermott -- now a senior -- says he was able to pull off winning performances in major competitions this year resulting in his being named All-Shore Boys Track Athlete of the Year, according to the article.

McDermott scored a record 269 points for a single school season and holds the Colts’ indoor record in the 55, twice running 6.69.
