A malfunction of Red Bank Regional's police emergency notification system prompted a brief lockdown of the school on Wednesday afternoon.
A message to RBR parents stated that the alert went out around 4 p.m. on Dec. 11.
"While we were quite sure the alert was the result of a malfunction and not an actual emergency, RBR and the Little Silver Police Department (LSPD) immediately conducted a lockdown in accordance with our procedures," the message states. "The LSPD worked with us to secure the building; together we determined that in fact the alert was the result of a malfunction and all staff and students were safe."
