Memory of Gerry Deverin Is Preserved in Little Silver

The awards were given to two standout lacrosse players.

When the Little Silver Recreation Committee initiated a new lacrosse program five years ago, Gerry Deverin was one of the first volunteers to step up and help coach and organize the sport.

Now, following Deverin's death in March, the borough is repaying his dedication with an annual award.

At the August Little Silver Council meeting, the Gerry Deverin Spirit Award was presented to two outstanding lacrosse players who showed some of the same traits as Deverin.

Over 60 friends and Deverin family members attended the presentation by lacrosse commissioners Dave Ballard and Kathleen Hoffman who reminded everyone of Gerry's commitment to youth sports as well as the contributions made by the recipients.
