Oceanport Local Named Her Veterinarian Nurse Hero

Tammy Boland was selected as the American Human Veterinarian Nurse Hero for her work saving dogs.

OCEANPORT, NJ - An Oceanport local veterinarian nurse was recently named as one of two 2018 Heroes by American Humane.

Tammy Boland has worked at her non-profit, Pick Your Paw Animal Rescue, to help hundred of dogs over the years, according to a release from American Humane. Boland specializes with working with at-risk animals across New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania to find dogs at shelters who need a special touch and help.

Boland recently rescued five pit bulls who were used for fighting and got them playing on grass for the first time in their lives, according to American Humane.

In addition, Boland and Pick Your Paw are opening a rescue and adoption location in the Freehold Raceway Mall in November, according to their Facebook page.

In addition to Boland, David Chico, VMD, of Albany, NY was announced as the Veterinarian Doctor Hero of the Year, according to American Humane.
