Oceanport Man, Brother Part Of Heroin/Cocaine Ring, Say Police

OCEANPORT, NJ — A pair of brothers, one of whom lives in Oceanport and another in Asbury Park, were arrested last Wednesday after police said they distributed heroin and cocaine throughout the Bayshore area, from Union Beach down into Eatontown, said Monmouth County prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni.

Herb Standard, 41, of Asbury Park, and Mark Standard, 40, of Oceanport, were arrested March 24. Police say they were part of a local drug ring selling cocaine and heroin in the area.

The arrests come after the county prosecutor's office did a three-month investigation into the ring.

Search warrants were executed last Wednesday at the Crystal Inn in Eatontown and at a private home in Oceanport (the 0-10 block of Gosselin Avenue). Detectives also searched two cars. Police say from all of those locations, they recovered more than 300 grams of cocaine, several pounds of marijuana, approximately $1,000 in cash and drug packaging materials. The men were arrested that same day, after the search warrants.

The older brother, Herb Standard, is charged with five counts of drug possession, including intent to sell and he is being held at the Monmouth County Jail.

Younger brother Mark Standard was charged with a single count of possession of drug paraphernalia and was released on a summons.

Detectives from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics and Criminal Enterprise Unit, along with the Eatontown, Oceanport and Union Beach police, plus the Monmouth County Sheriff’s office, did the investigation and arrests.
