Peach-Packing Company Expands Recall
Whole Foods, Walmart, Trader Joe's among affected companies

A peach- and plum-packing company in California is expanding its recall of peaches, nectarines and plums as it tries to pinpoint the source of Listeria bacteria it found contaminating its products, according to a report on CNN.com.
Customers of Walmart, Sam’s Club, Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s, among others, are being warned to check fruit purchased at the retailers since the beginning of June to see if it is linked to the plant, the CNN article said.
The fruit in question was packed by the Wawona Packing Company in Cutler, Calif., and may have stickers bearing “Sweet 2 Eat” on it or come in a box with that emblem on it, the report says. The voluntary recall is nationwide because the company does not know which stores received its fruit.

The fruit may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause listeriosis. This serious infection can give you temporary problems such as a high fever, abdominal pain and diarrhea, headaches, stiffness and nausea.
