Avoid Unnecessary Travel During Storm, Madison Police Say
Tuesday afternoon's storm is expected to pack a wallop.

MADISON, NJ — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for all of New Jersey, and the Madison Police Department is urging residents to avoid travel during the storm.
The storm is expected to hit the area between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., and during that time, police are asking residents to stay off the roads. The storms could bring flash flooding, strong winds and large hail, the National Weather Service said. A flash flood watch also is in place from 4 p.m. Tuesday through 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.
In addition to avoiding travel, residents should secure any loose toys or items in their yards, like garbage cans or patio furniture, make sure their gutters are clear, and keep cars off the roadway if possible. Extra DPW employees are on standby to address any issues the storm might present.
