Contested Elections, Market's Grand Re-Opening This Week
Kristallnacht commemoration, health presentation also planned.

Election: Madison residents on Tuesday will elect two representatives to the Borough Council, and two representatives to the Board of Education. Polls are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can see Madison polling locations on the borough website.
Leslie Lajewski, Johanna Habib and Tom Piskula are running to serve on the school board.
For Borough Council, two Republicans, two Democrats and an independent will be on the ballot.
Incumbent Robert Catalanello is running for re-election. He's running with Board of Education Vice President Patrick Rowe as the Republican ticket.
Maureen Byrne, a four-year member of the Downtown Development Commission and chairman of the Friends of the Madison Public Library, and Jeff Gertler, an 11-year member of the Planning Board and six-year member of the Environmental Commission, are the Democratic ticket.
Former Councilman Sam Cerciello is running as an independent. The five candidates fielded written audience questions at a forum last week.
Dealing with lice: Madison Pharmacy and Rutgers University present "Dealing with Lice and Proper Antibiotic Use" 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Madison Community House,  25 Cook Ave. Daniel Malzone, a student at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy who is learning for a rotation under Madison Pharmacy owner Frank Iannarone, will discuss how lice is contracted and spread, and drug and non-drug lice treatment. Antibiotic use in children and how to improve compliance and decrease side effects, as well as dangers of antibiotic overuse, also will be discussed.
Kristallnacht Commemoration: Erwin Ganz will be the guest speaker on Thursday as Drew University and its Center for Holocaust/Genocide Study mark the 75th anniversary of Kristallnacht.

The 7 p.m. program in Brothers College, Room 101, also features a showing of the documentary "The Night of Broken Glass." The film explores the night--Nov. 9, 1938--Nazi paramilitary forces destroyed synagogues and  thousands of Jewish stores and businesses.

NJEA Convention: Schools are closed Thursday and Friday for the NJEA Convention.Market Grand Re-Opening: A "grand re-opening" for renovations at Whole Foods Market in Madison is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday. A coffee and juice bar, new salad bars and hot bars, and a new health and beauty department were added to the store.
Madison Mayor Bob Conley is expected to be on hand for a bread breaking ceremony, and the first 50 people in line can enter for a chance to win $250 worth of Whole Foods Market holiday products, according to an announcement for the event. The first 100 people at the ceremony receive a free baguette. The store will present a check to Morris Habitat for Humanity, and attendees can make festive crafts and caramel apples.
