Dorian Displaced Bahamian Cats Arrive In Morris County

More than half of the 150 surviving animals that survived Hurricane Dorian are now at Saint Hubert's.

MADISON, NJ - More than 80 Bahamian cats displaced by Hurricane Dorian arrived at the Morristown airport on Wednesday night as the last leg of their trip to Saint Hubert's Animal Welfare Center in Madison.

The cats were part of the 150 surviving animals housed at the Humane Society Of Grand Bahama. That organization was flooded with water so high, employees needed to stack crates to save as many animals as possible, according to a report from the Washington Post.

The cats were taken by wings of rescue, Wings of Rescue, who not only delivered three tons of humanitarian aid to the Bahamas, but also airlifted the cats out of the disaster zone. Over 100 dogs and 78 cats were flown to the mainland and then the cats were transported on to a smaller plane and flown to Morristown, officials said.
