Fight Social Distance Blues By Getting A New Pet
St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center says your new furry friend can help keep you healthy.
MADISON, NJ - With so many of staying home or working from home, Saint Hubert's Animal Shelter says it’s a great time to adopt a pet.
There’s no need for social distancing with a furry friend and they don’t hoard toilet paper. official said, noting that the CDC says studies show having a pet decreases blood pressure and feelings of loneliness.
To help get everyone a cuddly quarantine buddy, St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in New Jersey is making it easier and cheaper than ever to adopt or foster a pet.

“It’s critical that we get pets out of the shelter and into homes at this time so we’ll be prepared to welcome the at-risk pets who are going to need us later,” said St. Hubert’s Director of Operations Becky Burton.
Shelters in Madison and Ledgewood are open to adoptions by appointment, to limit the number of people inside. Heightened cleaning protocols are in effect too.

People who’d like to foster a pet canapply on the website and do their training online as well. We’ve also set up a “drive-by foster system” that allows fosters to pick up pets quickly and safely in the parking lot.
Those unable to adopt or foster a pet can help by donating.
We put out an urgent call for adopters and fosters, and we’ve been overwhelmed by the response. Still, the need is great, so please help spread the word about these animals in need.
