Filmmaker Seeks Dodgers Who Trounced Verona in '66

Lou Cortese is working on a documentary about a football team that lost 32 consecutive games in the 1960s.

Towaco filmmaker Lou Cortese is working on an unconventional documentary about a Verona High School football team's losing streak in the 1960s, when he was on the team.

With a working title of "75-0," the documentary by Cortese's video company, Vidtech Productions in Lincoln Park, is based on a 1966 Verona High School football team that lost to Madison High School by that amount.

The story centers around the blowout, and how a bunch of 16-year-old kids coped with that loss along with never having won a football game in three years of playing varsity football, Cortese said.

The team's 32-game losing streak spanned four years.

Cortese said the film could be finished this fall. He is mostly finished with interviews for the project, but still is trying to track down members of the Madison High School team.
