Sections of Green Avenue will be closed for road repair starting Wednesday, Madison police advised. Work is expected to last several weeks.
Parts of the road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Last July, residents told Madison's governing body the road was decaying and in deplorable condition, and petitioned the Borough Council to have it fixed.
Cifelli and Son is the contractor doing the project.
"A pavement mill and overlay will be completed with improved drainage, curb, sidewalk, signage and striping for the entire length," a notice on the borough website says. "The improvements are permanent and the inconvenience will be temporary."
