How Madison Schools Paid Principals, Administrators In 2020-21
Madison School District pays its top officials more than the state median average and ranked 11th among school districts in Morris County.
MADISON, NJ — Administrators and principals in the Madison Boro District were paid more than the median statewide salary in the 2020-21 school year, according to New Jersey Department of Education data.
After delays caused by the COVID crisis, the state released new information that shows how much every New Jersey school district budgeted to pay principals, superintendents and administrators in 2020-21.
The Madison Boro district pays its superintendent, administrators and principals an average of $140,100, which ranked 96th in the state, according to data from New Jersey state school officials. The district ranked 11th in salary among Morris County schools, which ranged from $161,443 (Morris Hills Regional) to $81,544 (Unity Charter).

Morris Hills Regional ranked 11th in schools across New Jersey while Unity Charter was the only school in the county not to pay its administrators a six-figure salary, according to state education data.
The median statewide administrator salary is $128,052, a 2.25 percent increase over 2019-20. Last year, the median statewide administrator salary was $125,207, a 1 percent increase over the year before.

The information is part of the state Department of Education's Taxpayer's Guide to Education Spending, which shows the median salary in every New Jersey school district.
In addition to median salaries, the state's site also shows each district's total spending, average daily enrollment and students from sending districts, the per-pupil costs and the district's total budget spending for 2020.
