Jets Fans Protest Near Team's Florham Park Facility
A small group of New York Jets fans demanded the firing of head coach Adam Gase near the team's headquarters on Thursday
FLORHAM PARK, NJ—A small but passionate group of New York Jets fans assembled near the team's Florham Park headquarters on Thursday afternoon to demand the firing of head coach Adam Gase.
The protest comes as the team, after slipping to 0-2 in a loss to Buffalo last week, prepares to take on the 1-1 Colts in Indianapolis Sunday.
"Never have I seen a team as embarrassing as this," said Bill Periera, 28, of Morristown, a longtime season ticket holder. "And I've been going to Jets games since I was five, so that's saying something."

The protest was originally planned in front of the team's offices, but tight security kept the group, which numbered about 10, from getting near the facility. Security eventually made the protesters move out of the area of the headquarters and onto Park Avenue, where they shouted and held signs. Occasionally, a car would go by and honk its horn in support.
Gase, who is in his second year as Jets Head Coach, was touted as an offensive guru when he was hired, based largely on his stint as the offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos. The head coach was expected to team up with third-year quarterback Sam Darnold to make the team an offensive powerhouse.

The Jets rank last in the NFL in touchdowns, 31st in yards per reception, and 31st in total yards. The team ranked near the bottom of the NFL's 32 teams last season in most offensive categories.
"It's sickening," said Dave Hanna of Sussex County . "As someone who lives and dies by this team, I am just tired of witnessing it. The Johnsons are billionaires but they're afraid to fire a coach in the middle of the season because they don't want to pay the rest of his salary."
