Kings Road School, located at 215 Kings Road, is serious about cereal. The school, located in Morris County, NJ has established a goal of collecting 750 cereal boxes which will be subsequently donated to the Interfaith Food Pantry in Morristown. Inspired by a similar food drive in Berrien County, Michigan, the cereal boxes will be lined up and knocked down, domino-style in front of the entire school. According to measurements, 750 boxes will be needed to circle the interior of the school extending to the exterior and around the upper blacktop. The knockdown is tentatively scheduled for the end of May.

While the knockdown will certainly be a fun event, this collection is really about giving to those that might be facing food insecurity. Imbedded into this school-wide event will be lessons on gratitude, the importance of giving, and the issue of hunger.

So far, the entire Kings Road School has certainly gotten into the action. The Kings Road Faculty appear in a trailer video promoting the event which can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wV_K-0vLuQ&t=157s. And, 4th Grader, Cameron Goldberg, donated proceeds from the sale of his homemade mask chains and bracelets to purchase cereal.

While significant progress has been made toward the goal of collecting 750 boxes, Kings Road School is still in need of more cereal donations. Community members interested in contributing can drop off cereal boxes in the bin by the main entrance at 215 Kings Road School or they can be delivered directly to the school by a Kings Road School community member (Student, Staff.)

Please help Kings Road get serious about cereal. Interested community members can learn more about this collection by contacting Brett Levine, School Counselor at levineb@madisonnjps.org.
