Learn About New Elementary School Math Program

Madison Senior Center program about Medicare also planned.

A presentation for parents on a new math teaching method used in grades K-2 in Madison schools this year is scheduled for Wednesday evening.

K-2 Math in Focus Information Night for Parents is 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the gym at Central Avenue School. "Math in Focus: Singapore Math" is the title of the textbook, and the program is based on the curriculum widely used in Singapore.

The night will include an overview of the program, information about accessing an online learning tool, and ways for parents to support their children.

Medicare: Open Enrollment & Other Questions Representatives from the State Health Insurance Assistance Program are scheduled to share useful tips for those encountering Medicare for the first time and navigating the Medicare website. The event is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Madison Senior Center, 28 Walnut Street. How the Affordable Care Act affects Medicare, Medicare Part D, and changes in "inpatient," "outpatient" and "observation" status during a hospital stay that affect coverage also will be discussed.
