Madison Business Owner Loses Cancer Battle Christmas Day

Stephen Faig moved to Madison in 1979 and started Stephen J Faig Plumbing & Heating.

MADISON, NJ - Stephen Faig, a longtime resident of Madison and local business owner, lost his seven year battle with appendix cancer on Christmas Day.

Faig was 65.

Faig was born in Orange and grew up in Glen Ridge in a plumbing family. He moved to Madison in 1979 after marrying Diane Swetland and raised his three children there. He started his plumbing business in the early 1980's, Stephen J Faig Plumbing & Heating, and worked locally until June of 2016 when cancer forced his early retirement.

He enjoyed working, meeting many wonderful people in the Madison area, and most importantly going out to dinner. He was known to always have a big smile and kind words for all. Faig's greatest enjoyment in life was being a father and he was so proud of his
children.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Diane Faig; his three children, Stephen M. of Boonton Township, Jonathan J. of South Amboy and Allison M., of Morristown; his daughter-in-laws, Rachel Piscitelli Faig and Kate Spendley Faig; his brother, Paul and sister-in-law, Suzette; his sister, Joanna Peck; many loving cousins, nieces and nephews and his loving dog.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 4 Madison Ave. in Madison.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions in Steve's memory may be made to ACPMP (Appendix Cancer/ Peuedomyxoma Peritonei) Research Foundation, 6415 Granger Road, Independence, Ohio 44131.
