Madison Recreation Complex Trails to Open Next Week
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Saturday, June 7 at 11 a.m.
The Madison Recreation Complex Master Plan Advisory Committee will officially open the trails at the Madison Recreation Complex off Ridgedale Avenue on Saturday, June 7 at 11 a.m.
"This past year, the committee has been working on developing a plan for passive recreation at the Madison Recreation Complex," said Councilman Bob Landrigan, who is the chairman of the advisory committee. "The internal trail system represents the first phase of our plan. Initially, the Boy Scouts blazed a trail under the leadership of Eagle Scout Joseph Falco.Â
"The Land Conservancy of New Jersey then worked with our trails sub-committee under the leadership of Council woman Astri Bailllie to continue the trail system. With the help of the Borough Engineer Bob Vogel, the Department of Public Works, Caruso Landscaping and many volunteers, the trail blazing of the looped trails began April 23. The trails are essentially complete except for the boardwalks over the wetlands. Once we get approval from the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, we can do that work.”
