Madison Seniors Are In A Pickle—By Choice

Madison Senior Services have started their Pickleball program.

MADISON, NJ - A group of Madison seniors have chosen to spend their summers in a pickle, as the Madison Senior Services has launched their Dodge Field Summer Pickleball Program.

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two or four players use paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated ball, similar to a wiffle ball, over a net. The main differences between tennis and pickleball are that in pickleball, you serve underhand, the ball has less bounce, there's no doubles alley.

The program is scheduled to run between now and Aug. 30 and games will take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Dodge Field, just a short walk from the Civic Center.
