Mariners Shatter Team Records at 13&Older State Championships

6 New Team Records at State Championships

The New Jersey YMCA 13 & Older State Championships, hosted by the Red Bank YMCA, were held at the Kunkel Aquatic Center at Franklin and Marshall College March 7th – March 10th. The Mariners were represented by a small team of fierce competitors who crushed multiple team records.

Kyle Beebe (14) lead the Mariners with 63 points. Dominating in the Free events, Kyle bolted to four (4) 5th place finishes in the 50, 200, 500 and 1,000-yard Free plus a 10th place finish in the 100 yard Free. Kyle attained new individual Mariners’ records in the 200, 500 and 1,000 Free events! He also swam a personal best in the 200 IM.

Atticus Chang (14) and Collin Faraher (13) also contributed points to the Mariners team. Qualifying in 6 events, Atticus raced to an 11th place finish in the 100 Breast also attaining a new individual Mariners' record. He swam 2 personal bests in 2 additional events. Collin also qualified in 6 events, earning 12th place in the 1,000 Free. He also swam personal bests in all 6 of his events.

Also qualifying in the 13 & 14 Age Group were Owen Weller and Ryan Snarr, both 13. Owen qualified in 2 backstroke events, one of his dominant strokes, and earned PRs in both. Ryan qualified in multiple events although was not able to compete due to injury.

Two additional Mariners records were broken at States – Atticus, Collin, Owen and Kyle sprinted to new records for both the 13/14 200 Yard Freestyle and Medley Relays. Congratulations!

Hannah Corcoran (17), Anya D’Costa (16), Jimmy Dougherty (17), Terry Luongo (15) and Kaley Snarr (16), all representing the Mariners in the 15-18 Age Group, contributed strong performances at States this year.

These 10 Mariners will be representing the Madison Mariners swim team at the Sun Kissed Invitational Championships at the end of March in Charlotte, NC. Good luck to all on the Sun Kissed qualifying team.
