Police Pursuit Ends With Crack Arrest: Madison PD
Daniel J. Coombs took a car without permission and had crack in his possession, police said.
MADISON, NJ - A 32-year-old Madison man took a car without permission and led police in a vehicle pusrsuit and foot chase before being arrested and charged with drug possession on June 23.
Daniel J. Coombs was charged with 3rd degree eluding, 4th degree resisting arrest, 3rd degree possession of cocaine, 3rd degree possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
According to authorities, Madison Police were dispatched to the area of Park Avenue to chase down a white Honda Civic taken without the owner’s consent. The victim provided the license plate for the vehicle and direction of travel. Patrolman Travis Daniel saw the car on Park Avenue and saw the Civic drive through a stop sign, police said.

Daniel attempted to a motor vehicle stop, but Coombs drove away, and after a brief motor vehicle pursuit Coombs stopped the car on Wisteria Court and ran away on foot, police said.
Madison officers gave chase and apprehended Coombs off of Morris Avenue, police said. After placing him under arrest, police said Coombs was found to be in possession of suspected heroin and crack cocaine.

Coombs was charged, processed and transported to the Morris County Jail, police said.
