'Refused To Quit:' Retired Madison Police Chief Dies Of COVID
Vincent 'Vinny' D. Chirico served as chief from 2004-09, retiring after 39 years of service. He battled COVID-19 since early April.

MADISON, NJ — Vincent "Vinny" D. Chirico, Madison's former police chief, died from the coronavirus. Chirico battled the virus since early April.
"His true spirit showed on how he refused to quit," a borough statement said. "Our condolences are sent to the entire Chirico family during this difficult time."
Chirico was appointed Nov. 10, 1969, to the Madison Police Department. He served as chief from 2004-09 and then retired after 39 years in law enforcement. Chirico was also a member of the Madison Fire Department, where he served as president of the Madison Hose Company.

He was a dedicated husband and father, the borough said.
