Terence Jones, Lifelong Madison Resident, Dies At 50

Terence Keith Jones was a Madison High School graduate and a proud 'Madisonian.'

Terence Keith Jones, a lifelong Madison resident, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 26, 2018. He was 50.

Terence was a born on March 13, 1968 to Verdelle Boyd Jones and the late Coleman Jones, Jr. He was a graduate of Madison High School and was a proud Madisonian. Terence was well known in the community for being a sociable gentleman that had a smile that could light up a room. He was also a man of tremendous faith in God and regularly studied the bible. His gentle spirit and good listening skills were some of his best attributes that made him a good friend to many.

Terence had a career in finance spanning 20 years, with his most current position as a financial advisor with VALIC, located in Berkeley Heights.

Terence had a great love for Starbucks coffee, motorcycles, fine watches and automobiles. He was a steadfast NY Giants fan and a golf aficionado, who never gave up an opportunity to get outside and play a round of golf with friends. Terence was skilled at working with electronic gadgets and he loved travel. He traveled the world and always looked forward to a nice vacation. Above all, Terence loved his dear family and friends. He was "uncle" to many kids and he loved children. He also loved being called "Godfather T", after he was honored by close friends to be their son's godfather. Although there is great sadness that we have lost this beautiful soul, we are left with the comfort in knowing he is with God and has left behind a legacy of love that has touched so many people's hearts.

In addition to his father, the late Coleman Jones, Jr., Terence was predeceased by his dear brother, Ronald M. Jones in 2000. He leaves behind his beloved mother, Verdelle Boyd Jones; his loving brother, Donald K. Jones and his wife, Vinette; his cherished niece, Kamie; several aunts, cousins & relatives, his dear godson, Giovanni Grassi II; his good friends, Carolyn and John Grassi; and many other friends.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Terence's life from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. All may gather at 10 a.m. at Bethel AME Church, 53 Central Avenue, Madison to pay final respects to Terence prior to the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Morristown.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that charitable contributions be made to the Terence K. Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Bethel AME Church, 53 Central Avenue, Madison 07940
