Unearthed Skull Found At Madison Cemetery

Police are testing the skull to see if is real or a replica, officials said.

MADISON, NJ - A skull found outside a grave at St. Vincent Martyr Cemetery Monday is being tested for authenticity, according to officials.

Madison Police Lt. John Miscia said that Saint Vincent's Cemetery staff contacted the police just before noon on Monday about a possible human skull found outside a grave that had been recently dug.

"We collected it and it is still under investigation, " Miscia said.

Miscia said that authorities aren't sure if the skull is human or a replica but that it appeared aged.

Miscia said they will know when they get the results back from the New Jersey State Police Anthropology Lab, where it was sent for testing.

Miscia noted Madison is investigating with the Morris County Prosecutor's Office and State Police.
