Veterans Day, Dan Rather, Park Smoking Ban This Week

Veterans Day: The American Legion Post serving Madison and Florham Park, as well as other nearby towns, plans to mark Veterans Day with a brief ceremony 11 a.m. Monday at Condurso Park in Madison.

Frank Patterson Post 43 is conducting the ceremony, which will include a color guard and remarks from local and post officials. All veterans and the public are invited. Condurso Park is at Main Street and Park Avenue.

Borough offices are closed Monday. The library is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

School Board: The Madison Board of Education is scheduled to meet 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the high school library. A presentation by the robotics team is on the agenda.

Dan Rather in Madison: Former CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather will kick off the Drew Forum lecture series 8 p.m. Tuesday with insights into current issues facing the United States at home and abroad. The event is in the Simon Forum and Athletic Center on the Drew campus in Madison. Parking will be on campus. (Notices that said parking was at nearby Giralda Farms were incorrect.) A shuttle bus will transport ticketholders to the venue. Borough Council: Madison's governing body is scheduled to meet 8 p.m. Wednesday in the municipal building. A public hearing and council vote on a law that would ban smoking on all borough property, including parks and recreation areas, is planned.

Suit Drive: Adams Dental in Madison is hosting a suit drive to benefit Morris County Dress for Success four days this week. Donations can be delivered to Adams Dental, One Kings Road, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. You can learn more about the program and see guidelines on what to bring here.
