A vehicular crash in Manalapan prompted the closure of all lanes on Rt. 33 eastbound approaching CR 527/Millhurst Rd/Sweetmans Ln.

MANALAPAN, NJ - A two-vehicle crash in Manalapan prompted the closure of all lanes on Rt. 33 eastbound between Pegasus Boulevard and Sweetmans Lane on Tuesday, according to authorities.
At approximately 5 p.m. on Tuesday, the Manalapan Township Police Department issued a statement via Twitter, noting that the shutdown was prompted by a "serious motor vehicle collision."
According to the Asbury Park Press, the incident involved a 15-person passenger van and an SUV, both of which sustained heavy damage. One injured individual was carried onto a medical helicopter and taken to a local hospital, while another person left the scene in an ambulance, the publication reported.

"Please take the necessary precautions and avoid the area," police said. Motorists were asked to follow posted detours or plan an alternate route.
The highway reopened as of 8 p.m., Manalapan police said.
