Did Manalapan Choose Hugin Or Menendez?

Middletown. Aberdeen. Rumson. Red Bank. Hazlet. Holmdel. You might be surprised how each town voted on Tuesday; here's the breakdown:

MANALAPAN, NJ — Not surprisingly, Monmouth County voted for Bob Hugin on Tuesday, but not by much: Hugin only received about 28,000 more votes than Sen. Bob Menendez in Monmouth County. Compare that to Ocean County, one of New Jersey's reddest counties, where Hugin won with 139,524 votes compared to 74,268 for Menendez.

Both Monmouth and Ocean went for Trump in the 2016 presidential election.

Some of the biggest towns in Monmouth chose Hugin over Mendendez. Here's a town-by-town vote breakdown:

Holmdel went for Hugin: 4,201 Holmdel residents gave their votes to Hugin, compared to 2,720 for Mendendez.

Menendez takes Aberdeen, by a hair: Mendendez won Aberdeen Twp. by a mere 400 votes, with 3,590 for him and 3,194 votes for Hugin.

Hazlet goes big for Hugin: Interestingly, Hazlet, which falls under Democrat Frank Pallone's congressional district, overwhelmingly chose Hugin, giving him 4,655 votes compared to 2,887 for Menendez.

Less surprisingly, Middletown goes big for Hugin, too: Middletown overwhelmingly chose Hugin giving him 16,981 votes to 10,455 for Menendez.

Matawan: Hugin won Matawan by a mere 146 votes, with 1,685 for him and 1,539 for Menendez.

Hugin wins Marlboro: Marlboro, which actually has a Democratic mayor and is also within Pallone's district, chose Hugin, but only by about 700 votes, 8,086 for him and 7,372 for Menendez.

Hugin won Colts Neck: Colts Neck gave 3,213 for Hugin and 1,267 for Menendez.

Rumson goes for Hugin: Rumson gave 2,092 votes to Hugin and 1,179 for Menendez.

Hugin takes Manalapan: The increasingly populated rural Twp. gave 8,944 votes to Hugin and 6,473 to Menendez.

Red Bank for Hugin: One of the rare "blue" towns in Monmouth County, Red Bank chose Menendez, giving him 2,395 votes to 1,456 for Hugin.

This is all according to unofficial vote tallies provided by the Monmouth County Clerk's office. It includes mail-in ballots and provisional votes, which have all been counted.
