Drug Bust At Wawa, Business Burglaries: Manalapan PD Blotter

On Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 9:12 a.m., a 37-year-old Manalapan Township resident reported being a victim of terroristic threats during a verbal dispute. The incident is pending the signing of complaints. Patrolman Jeffrey Emslie handled the report.

On Monday, April 26, 2021, during the early morning hours, three suspects dressed in dark clothing, masks, and hoods entered the Meadow Creek development located in Manalapan Township. These individuals either attempted to enter, or successfully entered any unlocked vehicle in the area. Their actions resulted in the theft of motor vehicles and 25 reported burglaries to unlocked motor vehicles. There were also two thefts that were reported. Several residents provided surveillance footage of the suspects committing these vehicle burglaries and attempted burglaries.

On Monday, April 26 2021, at approximately 9:38 p.m., a 31-year-old Manalapan Township resident contacted the Manalapan Police Department to report that they were a victim of a fraud. The victim reported that an unknown actor(s) obtained their bank account information and the victim was at a monetary loss of approximately $473.00. Patrolman Jeremy Slad handled the initial report.

On Monday, April 26, 2021, at approximately 2:42 p.m., Kinglsey Prophete, a 29-year-old, unmarried, male, resident of Old Bridge, who is employed as a salesman, turned himself in at Manalapan Township Police Headquarters regarding a warrant that was issued for his arrest by the Manalapan Township Municipal Court in the amount of $1,000.00. Mr. Prophete was processed and released after posting bail. Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis was the arresting officer.

On Sunday, April 25, 2021, at approximately 5:31 p.m., a 53-year-old Manalapan Township resident reported being harassed by another Manalapan resident (pedigree unknown). No complaints were signed as a result of this incident.

On Saturday, April 24, 2021, at approximately 6:50 p.m., an anonymous caller reported a burglary to a vacant Heather Drive residence. Unknown actors entered the residence and sprayed graffiti throughout. Patrolman Matt Porricelli handled the report, which is pending further investigation.

On Saturday, April 24,2021 at approximately 2:28 p.m., John Caprino, an unemployed, 63-year-old, male, resident of Atlantic City, New Jersey, was found to have a warrant issued for his arrest by the Manalapan Township Municipal Court in the amount of $1,000.00. Mr. Caprino was placed under arrest and transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and subsequently remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in lieu of bail. Patrolman James Guarino was the arresting officer.

On Saturday, April 24, 2021 at approximately 1:10 p.m., a 56-year-old Manalapan Township resident reported that an unknown actor(s) used their pedigree information to open a fraudulent unemployment claim in March of this year. Ptl. Kevin Ruditsky handled the initial report, which is pending further investigation.

On Friday, April 23, 2021, at approximately 11:38 p.m., Patrolman Douglas Zike conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of State Route 33 after observing a motor vehicle violation. Jared Widman, a 41-year-old, married, male, Manalapan Township resident, who is employed as a technician, was subsequently found to be Driving While Intoxicated. Mr. Widman was placed under arrest and transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was
processed, issued multiple citations, and released pending a future court date. Patrolman Douglas Zike was the arresting officer.

On Friday, April 23, 2021 at 8:43 p.m., a 43-year-old, South Brunswick resident reported that he was assaulted by a 49-year-old North Brunswick resident while at a business on Route 9 in Manalapan Township. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident and no complaints have been signed. Patrolman John Lightbody handled the report.

On Thursday, April 22, 2021, at approximately 8:05 a.m., Patrolman Kyle Williams responded to the Wawa convenience store located at 146 Woodward Road in Manalapan for a report of suspicious activity. Bruce Lauer, 54-year-old, married, male, resident of Philadelphia, PA, who is employed as an electrician, was found to be in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Additionally, Mr. Lauer was found to have warrants issued for his arrest from both Somerdale
Boro Municipal Court in the amount of $81.00 and the Winslow Township Municipal Court in the amount of $500.00. Mr. Lauer was arrested and transported to Manalapan Township Police Department Headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date. Patrolman Kyle Williams was the arresting officer.

On Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at approximately 6:00 p.m., a 48-year-old Manalapan Township resident responded to police headquarters to report a fraud. The victim reported unknown actor(s) used the victim’s pedigree information to open up a fraudulent unemployment claim in March of this year.

On Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at approximately 2:25 p.m., Patrolman Kyle Williams and Patrolman Ross Dessel took custody of Jamie Sostre, a 46-year-old unmarried, unemployed, male resident of Freehold Borough. Mr. Sostre was arrested by the Freehold Borough Police Department and was turned over to the Manalapan Township Police Department for a warrant that was issued for his arrest by the Manalapan Township Municipal Court in the amount of $1.500.00. Mr. Sostre was subsequently turned over to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in lieu of bail. Patrolman Kyle Williams was the arresting officer.

On Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at approximately 7:06 a.m., Patrolman Kyle Williams responded to 700 Tennent Road for a report of burglaries to three businesses. It was determined that at approximately 2:11 a.m., a male subject broke in the front glass doors of each business and removed items of value from the cash registers. The subsequent investigation led to complaints being signed against Isiah Casrell, a 34- year-old, unmarried, unemployed, male resident of
Freehold Boro, NJ. Mr. Casrell was charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Theft of approximately $3,200.00. This incident is pending court. Patrolman Kyle Williams and Detective Brian Belardo were the investigating officers.
