Energy through the Roof: 450+ for Manalapan Max Challenge Kickoff
People Pack the Ivy League for the Max Challenge of Manalapan 9th Annual January Kick-Off
It was standing room only at the annual Max Challenge of Manalapan January kick-off, held at Gordon’s Corner Ivy League to accommodate the large turnout. Members of the community joined by Manalapan Mayor Susan Cohen packed the place to hear motivational speaker Scott Chesney, New Jersey celebrity Albie Manzo, and Max Challenge of Manalapan owner Rich Bruno speak on reaching new heights and personal empowerment for success in 2019.
The Max Challenge of Manalapan is celebrating its ninth year in the community where it offers members a five-day-a-week fitness program combined with nutritional guidance. Its sister club, The Max Challenge of Old Bridge, celebrating its sixth year in business, was also represented. The kick-off is designed to inspire new and legacy members to focus on goals for better health, confidence, and well-being.
“I love the start of a new year and a new challenge,” said local Realtor JoAnna Siminerio. “Hearing wheelchair-bound Scott Chesney talk how he walked through coals on his hands really puts in perspective how anything is possible if you have the right mindset.”

Two-time world traveler and motivational speaker Scott Chesney awoke to paralysis at age 15 and despite having a disability that keeps him in a wheelchair, lives life to the fullest and encourages audiences to do so as well. He has spoken at several corporate The Max Challenge events and was selected to deliver the keynote at the kick-off for his inspiring story, positive outlook and alignment with the company’s philosophy.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better speaker or greater support from the community,” said co-owner of The Max Challenge of Manalapan Maureen Bruno. “Looking out at the crowd and seeing how many people showed up, you really get a sense of how we’re impacting lives. While fitness is a big component, the program is just as much for the mind as the body.”
