K-9 Grim Finds Manalapan Runaway Teen

The local police department's K-9 makes yet another save for a Manalapan family.

Manalapan, NJ - Manalapan's beloved police canine, Grim, has made yet another rescue.

At 4 p.m. on Monday, November 21, Patrolman Adam Sosnowski along with K-9 Grim were called to a home on Meadow Green Circle for a report of a missing suicidal subject. The woman there told the officer that her daughter made several suicidal statements and when she contacted behavioral health for help, her daughter fled on foot from the home.

Officer Sosnowski directed Grim to track the young woman. After tracking approximately .4 miles, the dog located the girl within the Marlboro Township border. She was unharmed and taken to the CentraState Medical Canter for an evaluation.

A Manalapan police spokesman did not provide any further details due to the sensitive nature of the story, but this is hardly the first time Grim has helped a Manalapan family. Last December, on the job for less than a week, Grim scent-tracked a 15-year-old boy who had gotten into an argument with his mother and run away. Grim tracked him through a heavily wooded area the teen ran through and eventually found him in a parking lot along Rt. 9 north. (Read more about that story here.)

Grim is Manalapan’s third K9 in service. He is currently the only K9 the department has. Grim is a male German Shepherd, born and bred in the Czech Republic. He graduated from the Ewing Township Canine Academy.
