Manalapan-Englishtown Superintendent Announces June Retirement

The MERSD superintendent of 14 years announced his June 2021 retirement at a recent board of education meeting.

MANALAPAN, NJ – The superintendent of the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District has announced his retirement.

At a recent Board of Education meeting, board members reluctantly accepted John J. Marciante Jr.’s one-year notice that the 2020-2021 school year will be his final one as acting Superintendent of Schools. Marciante has served the district for 14 years.

The superintendent is slated to retire in June 2021.

The board approved a superintendent search agreement in conjunction with the New Jersey School Boards Association for $4,000 in a separate meeting. The NJSBA represents school boards throughout New Jersey and will work alongside the Manalapan-Englishtown school board to identify candidates to fill the position.

The district consists of eight schools serving grades K-8 and has a current enrollment of approximately 5,000.
