Manalapan Gets State Aid For Gordons Corner Rd. Improvements

MANALAPAN, NJ — Manalapan is one of thirteen towns in the 12th legislative district selected to receive more than $3.25 million in state aid grants from the Department of Transportation, money that will be used to repair various local roads.

In Manalapan, $270,000 was given to make various improvements to Gordons Corner Road.

"The work will consist of the resurfacing of Gordons Corner Road from Conmack Lane to Pease Road," said Manalapan Mayor Susan Cohen. "The work will also include ADA-compliance improvements and drainage improvements."

She said the town anticipates it being completed in the summer of 2020. The entire construction project will take 60 days from start to finish, but the impact to drivers will be less than that.

"There will be lane closures only — not a total shutdown of the road and the Manalapan Township police department will be on hand to direct traffic," said Mayor Cohen.

The news was announced by the area's local Assemblymen Ron Dancer and Rob Clifton, both Republican.

The state Dept. of Transportation provides 75 percent of the grant amount when a town awards a contract and the remaining 25 percent upon completion of the project.
