Damage to more than half a dozen mailboxes in town were among the incident recently investigated by Manalapan police.

According to a news release from Deputy Chief Michael Fountain:

On Oct. 4 around 7:45 p.m. a 17-year-old girl and 45-year-old man who live on Grayson Lane in Manalapan reported they observed multiple subjects on their property. The victim related the subjects began to destroy their mailbox knocking over and breaking it. The subjects then fled the area. Officer Christopher Makwinski is investigating this incident.

On Oct. 1, around 6:42 p.m., officers from the Manalapan Township Police Department responded to the intersection of Route 9 South and Symmes Drive in reference to a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arriving, officers found the pedestrian, identified as Hamed Hamed, 57, of Manalapan lying in the roadway of Route 9 south suffering from what appeared to be non­life threatening injuries. The operator of the vehicle, identified as Divina Tomada, 68, of Marlboro, was also on scene. Manalapan­ Englishtown First Aid Squad arrived on scene and transported the pedestrian to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. The crash is currently under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the investigating officer, Officer Matt Porricelli at (732) 446-­4300.

On Oct. 1 around 5:28 p.m., Patrolman Jared Coupland conducted a traffic stop on Millhurst Road after observing a motor vehicle violation. Investigation revealed the driver, Nicholas J. Passarelli, a 23-year-old Toms River resident, to be in possession of marijuana under 50 grams and drug paraphernalia. Passarelli was arrested and transported to Manalapan Township Police headquarters where he was processed and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also received several motor vehicle summonses, and was released pending a future court date. Patrolman Jared Coupland handled the arrest.

On Oct. 1 at 11:28 a.m., Officer Ros Dessel responded to headquarters for a harassment report. The victim, a 28-year-old, Manalapan man, reported he was harassed by his neighbor, a 65-year-old Manalapan man, earlier in that morning. The victim related that his neighbor harassed him while he walked his dog. The victim responded to municipal court and signed a complaint for harassment. Officer Ross Dessel handled the report.

On Oct. 1 around 5:40 a.m., Officer Eric Voorand responded to Apache Drive for a report of damage to mailboxes. Investigation determined that sometime between 6:31 p.m. on Sept. 30 and 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 1, seven mailboxes were damaged and stolen off of their posts on Apache Drive. This incident is being investigated.

On Oct. 1 around 3:30 a.m., a 25-year-old Manalapan woman contacted this agency after an unknown subject broke two windows on her vehicle after an argument where gum was spit towards her. The subject then left in a vehicle in an unknown direction. The only description of the subject was a white male approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with blonde hair. Later this day the victim contacted this agency to report further damage to her vehicle. She reported two additional windows were broken and two tires were slashed. Officers Kyle Earley and Ross Dessel handled the reports.
