Police recently investigated case of fraud and theft in Manalapan.

According to a news release from Deputy Chief Michael Fountain:

On Oct. 17 at 12 p.m. Officer Mark Casagrande responded to the area of Wegmans and Target for a report of a shoplifter. Someone attempted to steal $850 worth of cosmetics from Wegmans. When confronted by security on scene the actor fled and entered Target. The actor stole a black jacket and flannel shirt, changed clothes, and exited the building. Officer Mark Casagrande is handling the investigation.

On Oct. 17 at 1:25 a.m., Officer Joseph DeFilippis responded to police headquarters for a report of an assault. A 20-year-old Manalapan man alleges he sustained minor injuries from being assaulted by a 40-year-old Manalapan man. This incident occurred at approximately 1 a.m. on Longwood Drive. The victim also claimed his vehicle was damaged during the incident. The victim did not wish to pursue complaints at the time of the incident.

On Friday Oct. 16 at approximately 7:57 p.m., a 50-year-old Manalapan resident responded to this agency to file a fraud report. The victim related that they received a package in the mail from Walmart. Within the package was a check from $2,550 and instruction for the victim to participate as a mystery shopper. The victim followed the instructions, and was later advised that her bank funds were over drawn due to the $2,550 check bouncing. Anyone whom receives similar type packages in the mail is encouraged to contact this agency. Patrolman Matthew Porricelli handled the report.

On Friday, Oct. 16 at approximately 3:10 p.m., a 20-year-old Manalapan woman responded to police headquarters for a harassment report. The victim advised that someone from Craiglist was harassing her. Officer Brian Schank handled the report.

On Thursday Oct. 15 at approximately 6:38 p.m., Patrolman Matthew Porricelli conducted a motor vehicle stop on Caitlin Way. During the stop, investigation revealed that the driver, Peter Napoli Jr., a 36-year-old Marlboro resident, was determined to be driving while intoxicated. Napoli was placed under arrest and transported to Manalapan Township Police Department where he was process and released to a valid driver. Napoli will have court appearance in Manalapan Township Municipal Court. Patrolman Matthew Porricelli handled the arrest.

On Thursday, Oct. 15 at approximately 1:39 p.m., the victim of a theft, a 68-­year-­old Manalapan woman, responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters. The victim advised that someone stole her wallet while she was shopping at Wegman’s near the pharmacy counter. This case is pending further investigation. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Manalapan Police Department at (732) 446-­4300. Officer Brian Schank handled the report.

On Monday, Oct. 12 at approximately 3 p.m. a 67-year-old Old Bridge resident reported her vehicle was vandalized between 10 p.m. and 12 a.m. on either Oct. 8 or Oct. 9 while it was parked in front of Wegmans. Someone used an unknown tool to scratch the roof near the rear passenger side and the rear passenger side door. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Manalapan Township Police Department. Patrolman Jared Coupland handled the initial report.
