Manalapan Police Investigate Vehicle Burglaries

Vehicle burglaries were reported on streets, including Oak Knoll Drive, Atrium Way and Bloomfield Road in Manalapan.

Manalapan police are investigating several burglaries to unlocked vehicles.

According to a news release from Deputy Chief Michael Fountain:

On Oct. 17 at 11:47 a.m., Officer Sean McCarty responded to the area of Oak Knoll Drive for a report of theft from a motor vehicle. The victim, a 30-year-old Manalapan woman, reported that someone stole $16 in loose change from her unlocked motor vehicle which was parked in her driveway. The incident occurred during the overnight hours on this date. Officer Sean McCarthy handled the report.

On Oct. 17 at 9:15 a.m., Officer Mark Casagrande responded to the area of Atrium Way for a report of theft from a motor vehicle. The victim, a 32-year-old Manalapan woman, reported that someone stole a white Louis Viutton purse valued at $2,000, $160 cash, and various credit cards from her unlocked motor vehicle in the driveway. The incident occurred between 8 p.m. Oct. 16 and 9 a.m. Oct. 17. Officer Mark Casagrande is handling the investigation.

On Friday, Oct. 16 at approximately 10:15 a.m., Officer Brian Schank responded to a residence on Bloomfield Road for a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim, a 54-year-old Manalapan man reported that somone entered his vehicle, which was parked in his driveway unlocked, sometime overnight. The subject took several items from the vehicle before leaving the area. Officer Brian Schank handled the report.

On Thursday, Oct. 15 at approximately 1:48 a.m., patrols responded to the area of Samaritan Way for a report of a male subject unlawfully entering unlocked vehicles. The caller stated a tall male wearing a black jacket and carrying a black book bag was riding a bicycle in the area of Genesis Street and Samaritan Way and attempted to gain entry into several vehicles. Patrols checked the area for the suspect with negative results but recovered a bicycle possibly used in the incident. This case is pending further investigation. Officer Jennie Hensley handled the initial report.
