Manalapan police are searching for the thief who snatched cash from a 17-year-old's register at Target, authorities said.

Manalapan police are searching for the thief who snatched cash from a 17-year-old’s register at Target, authorities said.
On Sunday, at 4:35 pm patrols responded to the Target store on Route 9 south for a report of robbery and assault, according to a news release from Deputy Chief Michael Fountain.
Around 3:30 p.m., a man - described as white, balding, and in his early 50s - walked into the Route 9 store. The man, who wore a blue sweat suit, entered through the north entrance facing Symmes Drive, Fountain said.

According to the news release:
The man began circling the register area for about 10 minutes, then stopped behind register #9.

He watched as the 17-year-old female cashier opened the register, then pushed her out of the way, grabbed cash, and shoved it into a yellow shopping bag.
He left through the north exit and was seen leaving the area in a dark-colored sedan.
The cashier was not injured.
Officer Anthony Cascella took the report which remains under investigation by Detective Charles Alaimo.
