Manalapan School Honored With National Blue Ribbon Distinction
Clark Mills School in Manalapan was recently named a 2020 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

MANALAPAN, NJ - Clark Mills School in Manalapan was recently named one of 367 National Blue Ribbon Schools in 2020 by U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos.
The distinction is based on a school's overall academic performance and/or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Education.
Nine schools in New Jersey were selected to receive the distinction: Clark Mills School in Manalapan, Gould/Mountain School in North Caldwell, HCST County Prep High School in Jersey City, Henry B. Milnes Elementary School in Fair Lawn, Island Heights Grade School in Island Heights, Lillian M. Steen School in Bogota, Old Turnpike School in Califon, Riverview Elementary School in Denville and School No. 5 in Linden.

"Congratulations to this year's National Blue Ribbon School awardees," said Secretary DeVos. "It's a privilege to recognize the extraordinary work you do to meet students' needs and prepare them for successful careers and meaningful lives.”

Each year, the award-winning schools are recognized with one of two honors: Exemplary High Performing Schools and Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools.
Clark Mills was named among the high-performing schools, according to the news release. The Gordons Corner Road institution teaches approximately 500 students in grades 1 through 5.
“At Clark Mills School we view learning as a staircase,” reads the school’s profile on the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program website. “We recognize that each student is in a different place with their learning and understanding. We see each student on a step of the staircase, and our goal is to move each student up to the next level. We are an extremely student-centered school that is committed to rigor, relevance, and relationships to make learning the very best it can be for all of our students.”
