Manalapan Town Hall Parking Lot May Become Handicap Accessible

The Township Committee has applied for a community block grant to make the parking lot and Town Hall entrance handicap accessible.

Manalapan Township will be sending out an application for a Community Development Block Grant in order to make the Manalapan Township Municipal Building parking lot more compliant with American Disabilities Act requirements.

According to Manalapan Township Engineer Greg Valesi, the project being submitted calls for the entrance of the municipal building to be more handicap accessible. The driveway adjacent to the main entrance that is currently blocked off would be filled in, a handicap accessible entrance into the building will be constructed, and handicap accessible stalls would be restriped, Valesi said.

As part of the grant application, the township is required to hold a public hearing and a notice of the public hearing must be submitted to the state. The public hearing on this project was held at last week’s Township Committee meeting. No one from the public made a comment.
