Manalapan Woman Chops Locks for Breast Cancer Awareness - And Wants You To Join

Manalapan resident Samantha Coppolino is doing her part to promote Breast Cancer Awareness by chopping off her long, brunette locks and donating them to charity - and Coppolino wants you to join her. 

As the audio producer of Elvis Duran and the Morning Show on Z100, Coppolino, 23, has begun her first project. She has decided to donate her hair in honor of Breast Cancer Month and is asking listeners of the show to do so also. When you print out a sign that says “#ElvisDuranDonates” and take a TwitPic, Vine, or Instagram, the team will post the picture on their website when you include #ElvisDuranDonates. This can be done from now until the end of October. All participants will also be featured on the show, Coppolino said. 

Coppolino’s mother is a breast cancer survivor who was diagnosed with the disease thirteen years ago. Seeing first-hand how hair loss impacts a person helped inspire her to initiate this project, Coppolino explained. Additionally, this is the first year Coppolino’s mother has been comfortable enough to let others, outside of close friends and family, know about her prior illness. 

“I thought a fantastic way to honor [my mother’s courage] would be to get as many people as possible to make this sacrifice with me, and donate 8"+ of their hair to an organization of their choice,” Coppolino contended.
