Manalapan's 'National Night Out' to Bring Crime Prevention Awareness

National Night Out is scheduled for Aug. 6.

The Manalapan Police Department and Target will be hosting National Night Out on Aug. 6 from 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in front of the Target located within the Epicentre Shopping Plaza on Route 9 South; the rain date is scheduled for Aug. 7.

National Night out is an annual event designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs. It also works to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. This is a great opportunity for the police department and the community to strengthen their relationship and improve crime prevention awareness.

This years event will include the participation of all of the Manalapan Township emergency services, the monster truck "Viper", a helicopter landing, inflatable rides for kids, face painting, clowns, give-aways, a dunk tank containing Manalapan police officers and Target staff, raffles and various community groups providing information on crime prevention. Also on hand will be demonstrations by police K-9, Fusion Martial Arts, and fire department repelling and extrication demonstrations.
